Don’t have a resume? Resume trends change over time, learn what to include and where to start with the different resume styles appropriate to marketing your individual skills in today’s labour market. You will begin the process of creating a resume in this workshop.
Already have an existing resume and need to update and/or target your skills to a specific industry or employer? Then this is the workshop for you!
Pre-requisites: an existing resume and basic computer skills and MS Word.
This is a hands on workshop to develop a cover letter, information on types of cover letters, ways to respond to a request for a resume and cover letter, targeting a cover letter for a specific job advertisement. Common blunders and helpful hints will also be covered.

Dread going to interviews??? Learn what to expect and how to prepare!!! This workshop will assist you to identify the purpose, styles and types of interviews allowing you to put your best foot forward. It will focus on presentation, first impressions, traditional interview questions as well as the “do’s” and “don’ts” that make the difference in getting the job.
This self paced workshop provides participants with an overview of MS Word’s window and tool bars and how to navigate the pull down menus. Also covered in this workshop are topics from basics of how to save a new file and save a file under a new name to using the spell and grammar check to advance formatting features. Participants will become familiar with various formatting functions and essential skills necessary for effective resume and cover letter writing.

This workshop teaches the basics for applying on-line, rules for applying on-line for job applications, review job matching, job alerts and resume posting for effectiveness and safety. Learn how to send an application package by email. Learn how to do career research, access educational resources, and find information on the labour market and self-employment.

What is the Employment Skills Access Program?
The Ministry of Advanced Education and Labour Market Development has established a new program initiative, Employment Skills Access Program (ESA), under the Canada/British Columbia Labour Market Agreement. This program is designed to provide unemployed indivduals with the opportunity to access training in local public post-secondary institutions.
Program Eligible Participants: The ESA target clients are unemployed individuals who are non-EI clients.
