JOB SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Summer Coordinator, the Senior Leader will assist in providing summer daycamp /
playground opportunities for children and teens and will directly lead and supervise the activities. This
position will also be responsible for the safety and well being of all program participants, equipment and
facilities and provide direction and supervision of all program participants.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direct supervision of the Summer Coordinator, the Senior Leader will:
• Assist in the planning and promotion of daycamp / playground opportunities for children and teens.
Activities may include games, arts and crafts, outdoor activities, out trips, swimming, special events
and more;
• Assist in planning and organizing activities for daycamps and playgrounds, including revision of the
schedule and updates as necessary;
• Supervise and lead activities for children 5 – 13 years of age;
• Assist in supervision and evaluation of all program staff and volunteers involved in the program;
• Assist in monitoring daily attendance, medical information forms, equipment and supply levels, and
note any damages or deficiencies; and

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES:
• Experience working with children, preferably in daycamp / playground settings;
• Educational background in education, recreation or child / youth care;
• Valid First Aid Certificate, CPR C and Class IV driver’s license;
• Ability to safely and effectively supervise children and teens;
• Possess high energy level, enthusiasm, empathy and genuine interest in working with children and
teens;
• Knowledge of age appropriate activities;
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team;
• Ability to exercise good judgment;
• Knowledge of behavior management;

JOB SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Community Services Coordinator, the Summer Coordinator will plan, coordinate and
supervise activities of all daycamp / playground opportunities including assessing the recreational needs
of the participants; developing, implementing and monitoring programs and activities required to meet
those needs, and supervising staff and volunteers. In addition, this position is responsible for the safety
and well being of all program participants, equipment and facilities and will provide direction and
supervision of all program participants.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direct supervision of the Community Services Coordinator, the Summer Coordinator will;
• Assess the recreational needs of the children;
• Plan and organize activities for programs including setting up the schedule of activities and booking
day trips, budgeting, purchasing of supplies;

• May occasionally be called on to cooperate with youth services staff in supervision and leading

damages or deficiencies;
• Report to the Community Services Coordinator on a regular basis throughout the program;
• Adhere to budgetary restrictions and perform a detailed summer report including recommendations;

JOB SUMMARY:
The tasks performed by the Recreation Facilities Worker I primarily involve custodial maintenance. This
person is also responsible for taking various mechanical readings and would report any unusual items to
the Recreation Facilities Supervisor.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Maintains a high degree of cleanliness of Parks, Recreation and Culture Department facilities;
• Makes routine equipment checks and reports any problems to the Recreation Facilities Supervisor;
• Opens various Parks, Recreation and Culture facilities and prepares them for use by the public;
• Locks up Parks, Recreation and Culture facilities and ensures that they are safe and secure;
• Sets up and takes down equipment as required by user groups;
• Performs regular water tests and adjusts chemicals accordingly to meet Health Act and Parks,
Recreation and Culture Department standards;
• Deposits the Parks, Recreation and Culture daily revenue in the night deposit at the bank; and
• Other duties as required.

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES:
• Completion of Grade 12 education;
• Pool Operator I and II (or working towards the completion of);
• Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent;
• Valid drivers’ license;
• Ability to work with community groups, organizations and individuals utilizing Parks, Recreation and
Culture facilities;
• Ability to work with custodial equipment including floor burnishers and mechanical floor scrubbers;
• Previous experience in custodial work is an asset;
