MS Word – Basics & Beyond

This self paced workshop provides participants with an overview of MS Word’s window and tool bars and how to navigate the pull down menus.

Also covered in this workshop are topics from the basics of how to save a new file and save a file under a new name, to using the spell and grammar check to advanced formatting features. Participants will become familiar with various formatting functions and essential skills necessary for effective resume and cover letter writing.

Don’t have a resume? Resume trends change over time. Learn what to include and where to start with the different resume styles appropriate to marketing your individual skills in today’s labour market. You will begin the process of creating a resume in this workshop.

Please complete the Resume 101 Worksheet before coming to the workshop.  This worksheet can be picked up at Employment Navigators prior to your workshop date and will assist in the creation of your resume.

This is a hands on workshop to develop a cover letter.

Information on types of cover letters and how to respond to a request for a resume and cover letter will be explained. You will have the opportunity to target a cover letter for a specific job advertisement. Common blunders and helpful hints will also be covered.
